  • Journeys from Home Moodle site

Welcome to all who desire a more enjoyable journey

JFH is a portal from the minds eye of a filmmaker who believes from experience that reality is what you make it.

In 1989 a small group of us began creating a curriculum that empowered children to take control of their Journeys. To walk and bike using learned skillsets of searching, seeing and thinking. Hundreds of schools became involved and about 1,000 sets of K-5 materials were distributed along with hands on teacher training.

Kids that are proactive, empowered, enlightened, competent, confident and predictable in traffic tend to go far in life too for some reasons just now being realized.

About 3 years ago those children that were trained and enlightened in the early 90s began to contact us about their kids. They were beginning school and they wanted the same lessons and training to be available for them.

When we began this mission the car was king and money no object to most. Childhood obesity was not yet an issue or was diabetes in children. The obesity epidemic and inactivity was just beginning and not even on the RADAR.
Oil was cheap and SUVs were ruling the automarkets, we were almost all following the leader over the 2008 reality check cliff.

Now we are beginning to understand the importance of activity, sustainability and early ongoing training, now is the time to empower youth to carry the torch and lead the way. "If you change the world of a child you change the world" I believe this, as Roger, Sharon, Taylor, Lee, Elliot and Chase do.

Taylor was one of those trained kids. She has special powers and insights that came from the training, they are part of her core values. She now heads the visual design team, she choses through empowerment not to be tied to the car and enjoys all of her JOURNEYS due to the tweaked POV gained early. She is confident, competent and predictable in and around traffic and proactive movement is a bigger part of her life then it is for most of us.

She will run this nation one day with her friends, allies and others her age. JFH will continue to keep the portal open generation to generation thanks to the children like her and hers who desire new WAYS of doing and thinking.

This BLOG is focused on the rediscovery of the program and its extended development. It will include many Journeys of discovery along the way to the way.

Thank you for your time and involvement
